The History

In 1946 the homefarm area was partially logged and stumps were removed with a 35 horsepower bulldozer to make room for farm fields. What began with farming lead to timber harvesting and later to contract logging. A portable sawmill was added in 1970 and later a stationary sawmill was constructed in 1975. Today the sawmill remains but is officially shutdown. It is a functional mill not in a competitive market but able to produce cabin lumber and sawdust as it has for many years.

Dave's Story Dave grew up and took over the family business. He was the second generation operator. A very hard worker with many ideas and dreams, Dave built the existing sawmill and everything you see there. He was very proud of his homestead and respected in the community. He was stricken with cancer and won many battles over the last ten years, but he lost the war in 2005. His legacy lives on with his family working together to continue his plans for people like you to enjoy his wilderness home and retreat.

Future Plans We are looking to grow the resort by adding more remote cabins in areas off the main trail system, but to retain the peaceful woods retreat atmosphere. These cabins will be self contained and accessible by hiking or horseback. We are also looking into adding a complete showerhouse and lodge area for weekend and week long visitors looking for a unique experience they will remember and come back for.
